In Kona's Memory

In March of 2023 after work had begun on the first Kona book, we noticed a lump on his face and took him to the Vet for tests where we discovered Kona had a rare osteosarcoma in his upper jaw which could not be surgically removed.

After months of outings, treats, adventures, and the best care we could manage, Kona left us in July 2023, surrounded by his most favorite people. He spent his final pain free moments being smothered in hugs and kisses, on his blanket in his own home, after finally - finally - getting to eat real chocolate!

He was sweet to the very end continuing to love and comfort us as he had done for 10 years. In the most poignant of cliches we recognize that he was not a rescue - he was a rescuer.

He changed our lives in the best of ways and it is such a joy to keep his spirit alive in these stories. We are so blessed to have adopted him, and ask that you consider adopting yourself, or supporting the amazing Asher House Animal Sanctuary in Kona's memory.
